If you have burned through the latest Far Cry installment and want more open-world chaos, you are in luck. Several titles capture that same mix of stealth, gunplay, and explosive freedom. Here are five of the best.
First on the list is "Ghost Recon Wildlands." Ubisoft's tactical shooter drops you into a massive Bolivian-inspired landscape. You can approach missions from any angle, use drones and sync shots, and call in airstrikes. It feels like Far Cry but with a heavier military focus and co-op support for up to four players.
Next is "Just Cause 4." This series is all about physics and destruction. You get a grappling hook, wingsuit, and endless explosives. The map is huge and the story is thin, but the sheer joy of causing mayhem is very similar to Far Cry's best moments.
For a survival twist, try "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl." It is slower and more punishing, but the open world is full of anomalies, factions, and deadly creatures. You scavenge for gear, make tough choices, and fight for every inch of ground. It captures the tension of Far Cry's outpost clearing but with a much darker tone.
If you prefer a more grounded experience, "Homefront: The Revolution" puts you in a resistance movement in a near-future occupied Philadelphia. You use guerrilla tactics, set traps, and liberate districts. The atmosphere is grim, but the gameplay loop of sneaking, shooting, and blowing things up will feel familiar.
Finally, "Rage 2" combines id Software's gunplay with Avalanche Studios' open world. The result is a frantic, colorful shooter where you drive a buggy through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, unlock superpowers, and fight mutants. It is less tactical than Far Cry but more aggressive and fast-paced.
Each of these games offers a different flavor of the same core experience: a large map, player choice, and plenty of explosions.
