If you still have a box of old Xbox games sitting in the closet, it might be worth digging through it. A handful of titles for Microsoft's original console have become genuinely hard to find, and collectors are paying serious money to get their hands on them. Here is a look at five of the rarest original Xbox games and what they tend to sell for today.
Leading the pack is a game that barely made it to store shelves before disappearing. Copies in good condition regularly sell for several hundred dollars, and sealed examples have gone for well over a thousand. Another standout is a wrestling title that saw a very limited print run late in the console's life. Loose discs command a few hundred dollars, while complete copies push higher.
A survival horror release also makes the list. It was overlooked when it first launched, which means few people kept their copies, and prices have climbed steadily as a result. Rounding out the group are a couple of niche action and racing games that never got wide distribution. Each of these can bring in anywhere from one hundred to several hundred dollars depending on condition and whether the manual and case are included.
Condition matters enormously with these titles. A complete copy with the original case and manual can be worth two or three times as much as a bare disc. Scratches, sun-faded artwork, and missing inserts all drag the value down. If you think you have one of these games, check completed sales rather than asking prices, since sellers often list optimistic numbers that never actually sell. It is also worth confirming the disc is the correct version, because some titles had budget reprints that are far more common and worth much less.
