A fresh development team focused on Dungeons and Dragons video games is being assembled, and its backers say it will hold the largest concentration of video game talent ever gathered under one roof.
The studio is being built around the November launch of Dungeons and Dragons: World of Warcraft, a project that aims to merge the tabletop roleplaying universe with a persistent online world. According to the announcement, the team will draw from veterans across the industry, bringing together designers, engineers, and artists who have worked on major multiplayer titles.
The goal is not simply to ship one game. The studio plans to support the launch with regular updates, new story arcs, and expanded character options. Executives describe the effort as a long term commitment to the franchise, with resources set aside for multiple years of development.
Fans have waited a long time for a Dungeons and Dragons online experience that captures the depth of the tabletop rules while still feeling accessible to newcomers. The new studio says it will focus on cooperative play, deep character customization, and a living world that changes based on player choices.
Hiring is expected to ramp up in the coming months. The first public showing of Dungeons and Dragons: World of Warcraft is planned closer to its November release.
