New data from Capcom reveals that players of "Resident Evil Requiem" showed a strong preference for third-person gameplay when controlling Leon S. Kennedy, but were far less unified in their choice for the new character, Grace. The game's director shared these insights, noting that the split in player behavior was a key point of interest for the development team.
According to the director, the majority of players chose to experience Leon's campaign in the classic over-the-shoulder third-person view. This was expected, given the character's long history with that perspective in the series. However, the results for Grace were much more evenly divided. Roughly half of players opted for first-person when playing as her, while the other half stuck with third-person. The director suggested this indecision might stem from Grace being a fresh face, allowing players to feel less attached to a specific viewpoint.
Interestingly, PC players showed a distinct trend. On that platform, first-person was the more popular choice overall. The director speculated that this could be due to the precision of mouse and keyboard controls, which often make first-person shooters feel more natural. The data highlights how player preference can shift based on both character identity and the hardware being used.
