SIBOL begins Asiad campaign in Naraka, Puyo Puyo video game titles

SIBOL will launch its 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 campaign this week, with the Naraka: Bladepoint squad and Puyo Puyo Champions representatives becoming the first Filipino esports athletes to compete at the Aichi Sky Expo.

The two titles mark the opening phase of the country's medal hunt in Japan. The Naraka: Bladepoint team enters the competition carrying months of preparation built around the game's melee combat system, which mixes weapon-based duels with character abilities and survival elements. The Puyo Puyo Champions players, meanwhile, will rely on quick pattern recognition and chain-building strategies in a puzzle title that rewards consistency under pressure.

Both events will test the delegation's readiness against some of the strongest competitors in the region. Aichi Sky Expo will host the matches, giving the Philippine side an early chance to set the tone for the rest of the campaign.

SIBOL has yet to release the full lineup for the remaining esports events, but the opening matches this week will serve as the first real gauge of how the team handles the Asian Games stage.
