Until Dawn Characters Will Never Not Look Cursed, I Guess

Until Dawn Characters Will Never Not Look Cursed, I Guess

If you want me to keep these people alive, please make them less creepy. The cast of "Until Dawn" has always occupied a strange uncanny valley, and a recent re-examination of the game's character models proves that time has done little to soften their bizarre expressions. Originally released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, the interactive horror drama was praised for its branching narrative and cinematic ambition. But let's be honest: the characters themselves look like they are perpetually mid-sneeze or trying to remember if they left the stove on while a killer lurks nearby.

The problem is not just the graphics, which have aged reasonably well for a nearly decade-old game. It is the facial animations. Characters like Emily, Matt, and Jessica often twist their faces into grimaces that seem detached from the actual dialogue or danger. A simple line about checking the cable car can come with a wide-eyed stare that suggests they have just witnessed a ghost. Meanwhile, the game's infamous "don't move" segments force players to watch these frozen, awkward faces for minutes at a time. It is hard to feel tension when your character looks like a mannequin that has been startled awake.

Some fans argue this adds to the game's charm, making it a cult classic that is both scary and accidentally funny. Others simply accept that the "Until Dawn" cast will never look quite right. Whether you are trying to save them or let them die, they will keep staring at you with that thousand-yard stare. It is just part of the experience now.
