The upcoming action title Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 this September, according to a recent announcement. The game, which revives the classic ninja franchise, will launch on the new hardware alongside its previously confirmed release for the original Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
While the standard Switch version is also slated for a simultaneous release, players who already own that edition may face a difficult choice. Reports indicate that there is no confirmed upgrade path for those looking to move from the Switch version to the Switch 2. This means fans who want the best performance on the new console will likely need to purchase the game again separately.
Developed by Lizardcube, the team behind the acclaimed Streets of Rage 4, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance promises a modern take on the side-scrolling action series. The game follows a young shinobi on a quest for revenge, featuring hand-drawn visuals and fast-paced combat. The Switch 2 version is expected to take advantage of the console's enhanced hardware, offering smoother frame rates and higher resolution.
The September release window places the title in a competitive season, but for retro action fans, it remains one of the most anticipated revivals of the year.
